Since the RNLI was founded in 1824, its lifeboats have saved more than 137,000 lives.

In addition, in 2004, Beach Rescue have been called to 8,010 incidents, saved 53 lives and assisted a total of 9,041 people.

* Those who, in the opinion of the RNLI, would have lost their lives but for the service of the lifeboat.

** Those who, in the opinion of the RNLI, were at risk and required to be landed.

*** Those who, in the opinion of the RNLI, were not at risk but were brought ashore before the situation deteriorated.
