B-765 'Bob Turnbull' Launched at 03:42 hrs and returned from service at 04:22 hrs. 03 - 16/01/06 Small unnamed "Motor Boat" B-765 'Bob Turnbull' Launched at 14:27 hrs and returned from service at 15:18 hrs. 06 - 10/02/06 Report of "Red Flares" B-765 'Bob Turnbull' Launched at 21:44 hrs and returned from service at 22:39 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the AWB to search in Pegwell Bay following a report of red flares being seen. As AWB proceeded, it was decided to launch the ILB as well, to search up the river Stour. Search was ceased when some spent flare tubes were found on shore. Incident classed as false alarm with malicious intent. 07 - 13/02/06 Report of a "Man in Water" B-765 'Bob Turnbull' Launched at 23:20 hrs and returned from service at 23:33 hrs. 09 - 02/04/06 Search for "Persons Cut off" B-765 'Bob Turnbull' Launched at 13:11 hrs and returned from service at 13:26 hrs. Following a 999 call from a MoP, HMCG requested launch of the ILB to search for 2 persons apparently cut off by the tide, to the south of Broadstairs. Following a brief search during which nothing was found, HMCG were able to confirm that no persons were, in fact in danger. HMCG requested launch of the ILB to the small speed boat "Seas the Day", with 6 persons, which had broken down off Ramsgate. ILB towed "Seas the Day" in to Ramsgate. 30 - 09/07/06 Yacht "Marksman" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 16:30 hrs and returned from service at 17:10 hrs. The yacht "Marksman" with two persons, called the port control requesting assistance after grounding on the Cross Ledge. HMCG were advised and AWB was launched, with ILB launch following shortly, after the situation of the casualty became apparent. With a swell running over the banks and the tide falling, the ILB took the two crew off the casualty to await re-floating when the tide rose. 32 - 09/07/06 Yacht "Marksman" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 18:57 hrs and returned from service at 20:07 hrs. Following earlier services, both lifeboats made a planned launch and stood by the casualty as the tide rose. ILB took the casualty in tow as she lifted on the tide and swell, and once clear of the bank transferred the tow to the AWB. "Marksman" was towed in to Ramsgate. 33 - 13/07/06 RIB "Windrider" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 10:36 hrs and returned from service at 11:33 hrs. Local fishing vessel "Sea Searcher" advised port control that the large RIB "Windrider" was in difficulties and aground on the the North Sand Head, "Windrider" broadcasting a "Mayday" signal immediately afterwards. Launch of both lifeboats was initiated and HMCG advised. On arrival it was found that the RIB had been closing the sands to take off several persons, including a film crew, when she had broached to in the swell on the sands, and swamped. The RIB skipper took all persons off the sands onto the swamped RIB, there being thirteen persons in total. ILB approached from the north but at first attempt could not get close and made a second approach from the south. A line was connected, but this parted and a second line was put on the RIB. ILB then towed the RIB clear of the sands until the AWB could get alongside and take all persons on board. AWB proceeded to Ramsgate with survivors and was met by an ambulance, one distressed person being taken to hospital as a precaution. ILB towed "Windrider" in to the harbour. 36 - 13/07/06 Report of "Person in the water" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 16:00 hrs and returned from service at 16:25 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB to investigate a report from a MoP of a lifeguard swimming out towards a small boat, but not returned and no longer in sight. ILB commenced search of area below King George Park. Investigation found that the lifeguard had swum out from Dumpton Gap to assist two children on an inflatable and due to current had bought them ashore at Ramsgate Main Sands. With all persons accounted for ILB returned to station. False alarm with good intent. 38 - 19/07/06 Yacht "Jan van Gent" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 10:35 hrs and returned from service at 11:37 hrs. The yacht "Jan van Gent", with 4 Persons, called the port control requesting assistance after grounding on the north Goodwin sands. The launch of both lifeboats was initiated and HMCG advised. On arrival it was found that "Jan van Gent" was aground on the falling tide. An attempt to tow the yacht off the ground was unsuccessful and in view of an adverse weather forecast, the casualty crew were taken off by the ILB and landed ashore by the AWB. 40 - 19/07/06 Yacht "Jan van Gent" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 15:33 hrs and returned from service at 16:49 hrs. Both lifeboats launched to stand by the yacht "Jan van Gent" as she re floated on the rising tide. Casualty crew were returned to the yacht. ILB put a tow line onto the casualty and held her up into the tide as she re floated. Tow was transferred to the AWB and "Jan van Gent" towed in to Ramsgate. 42 - 19/07/06 Report of "swimmer in difficulty" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 18:56 hrs and returned from service at 19:22 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of a person in difficulty in the water off Broadstairs Pier. On arrival on scene it was confirmed that the person(s) had been swimming off the pier and were in no difficulties. False alarm with good intent. 44 - 21/07/06 Report of a "Swimmer in difficulties" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 19:56 hrs and returned from service at 20:05 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of a swimmer in difficulties off Ramsgate main beach. On arrival ILB found that the swimmer had returned ashore and had been in no trouble. False alarm with good intent. 45 - 27/07/06 Report of a "Person in the water in difficulties" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 10:35 hrs and returned from service at 10:54 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following reports from MoP's of a young girl in trouble in the water at Sandwich Bay. On arrival ILB found that the girl had been pulled out of the water by people ashore, and had left the scene. 46 - 27/07/06 Report of "Persons with inflatable in difficulty" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 18:48 hrs and returned from service at 18:54 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following reports from MoP's of persons in the water and in difficulties alongside an inflatable dinghy of Ramsgate Main Sands. On arrival ILB found that the persons and the dinghy had made their own way ashore unaided. False alarm with good intent. 48 - 31/07/06 "Beach Lifeguards' RIB" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 11:41 hrs and returned from service at 11:49 hrs. The Ramsgate Beach Safety RIB, with two persons, called the port control reporting and engine failure when off the southern breakwater. In the strong wind, there was a danger of the craft being swept onto the breakwaters and so an ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. The RIB crew managed to get it's outboard working intermittently and in this condition was escorted into the harbour by the ILB. 50 - 03/08/06 Angling Vessel "Fullbore IV" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 12:09 hrs and returned from service at 12:48 hrs. The angling vessel "Fullbore IV" with three persons called the port control requesting assistance after the vessel unable to stem water ingress. The launch of both lifeboats was initiated, HMCG being advised. On scene, the "Fullbore IV" had found that fishing nets had fouled her propeller and this had resulted in the stern gland being damaged. The crew had been able to minimize the water ingress with wedges so that vessel's pump could cope. AWB and ILB escorted "Fullbore IV" in to the Harbour Authority's boat hoist. 52 - 05/08/06 Recovery of "Persons on Ramsgate North Breakwater" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 14:22 hrs and returned from service at 14:49 hrs. Port control heard cries from the north breakwater and saw a girl on the rocks and in apparent distress. ILB launch was initiated and at the same time the beach lifeguards RIB arrived, having been concerned over the whereabouts of two swimmers from the main beach. The passenger RIB "Windrider" stood by the incident. On arrival ILB found one girl on the breakwater, in the first instance being abusive and declining any help. However, ILB and "Windrider" crew members were landed on the rocks to search and found a second girl claiming to have her foot jammed and injured. The teenagers were persuaded into the ILB and taken to the boathouse to be met by ambulance. At the boathouse one of the girls ran away, the other was taken by ambulance to hospital for checks for a suspected fractured foot. 54 - 14/08/06 Report of "Person in the water" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 17:55 hrs and returned from service at 17:57 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following 999 calls from MoP concerning a woman entering the water in an emotional state at Broadstairs Harbour. On arrival on scene ILB found that the lady had been pulled out of the water by the Beach Lifeguards, and was being taken care of by police. ILB returned to station. 55 - 19/08/06 Report of a "Person in the water" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 21:31 hrs and returned from service at 21:33 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a request by Kent Ambulance to assist with an intoxicated person in the water at Ramsgate Main beach. On arrival ILB found that the person had been brought ashore and was safe in the ambulance. ILB returned to station. 56 - 20/08/06 Report of an "Upturned Boat" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 15:28 hrs and returned from service at 16:17 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following two 999 calls reporting a person clinging to an upturned boat in Pegwell Bay.ILB, along with HMCG aircraft, searched the area and with nothing found, ILB was released to return to station. 58 - 25/08/06 Fishing Vessel "Audacious" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 07:30 hrs and returned from service at 08:36 hrs. The local fishing vessel "Audacious", with one person called the port control requesting assistance after fouling her propeller with fishing gear. ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. ILB proceeded to the casualty, in Pegwell Bay, and towed her in to Ramsgate. 60 - 26/08/06 Classic Sailing vessel "Kommandoren" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 13:13 hrs and returned from service at 13:55 hrs. HMCG requested launch of both boats to the classic sailing vessel "Kommodoren", with six persons, following a "Mayday" call advising that the vessel was sinking. AWB and ILB transferred three lifeboat crew and a salvage pump to "Kommodoren" and took her in tow to Ramsgate. 61 - 28/08/06 Assistance of police dealing with a "Swimmer" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 03:44 hrs and returned from service at 04:15 hrs. Kent Police contacted the port control requesting assistance after they had lost contact with a reveler seen swimming in Ramsgate Inner Marina. Swimmer was located by ILB and landed in care of the Police. 62 - 01/09/06 Assistance of "Persons in difficulty in river mud" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 21:34 hrs and returned from service at 22:01 hrs. HMCG Requested launch of the ILB following telephone call from two fishermen in difficulties regaining the shore over the mud flats in the Stour estuary. ILB located the two men and took them in to Ramsgate. 63 - 11/09/06 Speedboat " Unleashed" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 18:44 hrs and returned from service at 19:03 hrs. Following a 999 call, HMCG requested launch of the ILB to the speedboat "Unleashed", with three persons, broken down off the southern breakwater. ILB towed "Unleashed" to undercliff slipway. 64 - 16/09/06 Yacht "Truly" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 19:30 hrs and returned from service at 19:57 hrs. The yacht "Truly" called the port control requesting assistance following engine failure off the port. After consultation with HMCG, ILB was launched. ILB towed "Truly" in to Ramsgate. 67 - 24/09/06 Report of Persons Cut off by tide B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 12:05 hrs and returned from service at 12:42 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a call from MoP of two persons cut off by the tide at Stone Bay. On scene, ILB found one lady near the 49 steps, who was landed to safety at Stone Bay. HMCG confirmed that there was no other person involved. 69 - 25/09/06 Recovery of a Swimmer B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 02:15 hrs and returned from service at 02:20 hrs. Port Control Officer saw a man jump into the water from the end of the East Pier. ILB launch was initiated, and PCO also alerted the "Bumble" duty work boat, and emergency services. The "Bumble" helmsman managed, single handed, to get the person on board and landed him to police at the Dover Steps. ILB returned to station. 70 - 30/09/06 Report of a Windsurfer in difficulties B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 15:44 hrs and returned from service at 15:47 hrs. Port control received a report from a MoP by VHF Channel 14 that there was a windsurfer in the water and unable to get upright, off the Western Undercliff. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. When the ILB arrived on scene, the original informant reported that the windsurfer was safely ashore. ILB returned to station. 72 - 16/11/06 Report of a "Kite Surfer in difficulties" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 14:03 hrs and returned from service at 14:29 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from MoP of a kite surfer in difficulties off the main beach. On arrival in the search area ILB found and recovered a kite sail in the water just south of No.5 buoy. With no person found, ILB set up a search area to the south, towards Pegwell Bay. Shortly afterwards the Prince's Golf Club telephoned the port control advising that a male kite surfer had come into the club, from the sea, and requested that they phone to say that he was safe. This was passed to HMCG and following assessment, ILB returned to station. Call recorded as false alarm with good intent. 73 - 21/11/06 Motor Yacht "Sea Cloud" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 15:30 hrs and returned from service at 16:12 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a VHF "MAYDAY" call from the Motor Yacht "Sea Cloud" with two persons. "Sea Cloud" reported having lost her propeller, whilst under way in Pegwell Bay. On arrival, ILB found "Sea Cloud" aground, ILB connected a line and and towed "Sea Cloud" off the ground . Once afloat "Sea Cloud" was found to be taking water and AWB was launched to assist with her salvage pump. With the pump on board "Sea Cloud", she was taken in tow in to Ramsgate and lifted out on the Harbour Authority boat hoist. 75 - 02/12/06 Assistance of Police "Missing Person" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 19:38 hrs and returned from service at 20:10 hrs. Kent Police requested HMCG assistance following a report from a person that a man was intending suicide at or near Ramsgate Harbour. Whilst police investigated and mounted an extensive search ashore, ILB launch was requested to search off the main beach. Search was called off when the man was found safe in a flat ashore. 79 - 16/12/06 Report of a "Canoeist in Difficulty" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 14:51 hrs and returned from service at 14:58 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of a canoeist out of his craft and in difficulties off the Western Undercliff. On arrival ILB found that the canoeist was in no difficulties. False alarm with good intent. 80 - 30/12/06 Report of "Person in the Water" B-765 Bob Turnbull Launched at 00:01 hrs and returned from service at 00:40 hrs. HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a telephoned report of a 14 year old youth having fallen into Ramsgate harbour, inside the East Pier. ILB launched and searched inside the Royal Harbour, outside the East Pier and then in the Western Terminal. Whilst the search progressed, police made enquiries and as a result of these the search was called off. Incident logged as false alarm with malicious intent. |
