07 - 26/03/05 Yacht "TRINGA TOO"

Launched at 19:37 hrs and returned from service at 20:07 hrs.
Service Area: Broadstairs/Dumpton Gap, 1.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fog.
 
Planned Launch. With AWB on service to "Volavont"(see service 06/05 AWB) ILB launched to attend "Tringa Too" (see service 05/05 AWB) as she refloated on the tide. On passage, ILB came upon the Catamaran "Lady P" aground near Winterstoke. HMCG were advised. Ascertaining that "Lady P" was in no imminent danger, ILB proceeded on to "Tringa Too" and took her in tow upon her refloating. ILB handed tow over to AWB at 20:07 hrs, and proceeded to "Lady P"

 
08 - 26/03/05 Catamaran "LADY P"

Already at sea at 20:08 hrs and returned from service at 21:15 hrs.
Service Area: Winterstoke, 0.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fog.
 
Having handed over tow "Tringa Too" to the AWB, ILB proceeded to the catamaran "Lady P", with three persons on board, aground near the Winterstoke outfall. ILB awaited the refloating of "Lady P" on the tide, and then escorted her in to Ramsgate.

 
11 - 27/03/05 Motor Boat "OWN GOAL"

Launched at 18:09 hrs and returned from service at 18:26 hrs.
Service Area: SSE of Port, 0.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fair Visibility.
 
The motor boat "Own Goal" , with three persons, called to Port Control requesting assistance being anchored at the West Quern and unable to start her engine. HMCG were advised and ILB launch initiated. ILB towed "Own Goal" back in to Ramsgate.

 
13 - 28/03/05 Missing Jet Skier

Launched at 19:57 hrs and returned from service at 20:12 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay Area, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Poor Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB and then (at 1947) the AWB to commence a search for a Jetskier whose car and trailer were still at the Western Undercliff and who had not been seen for a considerable time. Shortly after launch, HMCG located the man walking along the foreshore and the lifeboats returned to station.

 
15 - 29/03/05 Missing Jet Skier

Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Fog.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB to search for the Jetskier who had been the subject of services 13 (above) & 14 (AWB) 2005. Although located earlier, HMCG were advised that the man had still not collected his car and had not been seen. Shortly after launch HMCG located the man, now walking towards his vehicle and confirmed that he was in no danger. ILB returned to station.

16 - 10/04/05 Motor Boat "Amigos"

Launched at 04:28 hrs and returned from service at 05:14 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell, 2.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 3, Moderate Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB to the motor boat "Amigos", with two persons, out of fuel and drifting out to sea from Sandwich Bay. Vessel had no VHF and was communicating via mobile telephone with HMCG.

ILB towed "Amigos" in to Ramsgate.


17 - 26/04/05 "Kite surfer"

Launched at 18:53 hrs and returned from service at 19:18 hrs.
Service Area: Ramsgate Channel, 2.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 3, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from MoP of a kite surfer in difficulties in Sandwich Bay. ILB located kite surfer and landed him to the beach.


18 - 01/05/05 Motor Yacht "Sea Envy"

Service Area: Shell Ness, 2.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind E force 1, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a call for assistance from the motor yacht "Sea Envy", with two persons, aground at Shell Ness. On arrival ILB found casualty fast aground and after checking all secure returned to station to await "Sea Envy" re floating on the tide.


19 - 01/05/05 Motor Yacht "Sea Envy"

Service Area: Shell Ness, 2.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm , Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

ILB launched to attend at the re-floating of the Motor Yacht "Sea Envy", aground at Shell Ness. As the casualty floated there was some concern as to whether she was taking water and AWB launch was requested to bring a salvage pump on scene. However, "Sea Envy" was found to be seaworthy and after being escorted clear of Shell Ness she proceeded up river unassisted.


21 - 17/05/05 Motor Yacht "Betty Boo"

Launched at 21:01 hrs and returned from service at 21:34 hrs.
Service Area: Off Sandwich Bay Sailing Club, 5.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind E force 1, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

The motor boat "Betty Boo", with three persons, called the Port Control requesting assistance following engine failure whilst off Sandwich Bay Sailing Club. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG informed. ILB towed "Betty Boo" in to Ramsgate.



31 - 28/05/05 Yacht "Khamsin"

Launched at 17:09 hrs and returned from service at 17:28 hrs.
Service Area: 2 miles off Harbour Entrance, 0.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 8, Rough Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a request for assistance from the yacht "Khamsin", with three persons, with engine failure and in difficulties off the harbour. ILB towed "Khamsin" in to Ramsgate.


35 - 05/06/05 Yacht "Ailaire"

Launched at 07:05 hrs and returned from service at 08:23 hrs.
Service Area: North Goodwin Sands, 4.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 3, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

Both lifeboats launched to attend the yacht "Ailaire" as she re-floated on the tide at the North Goodwin Sands. ILB passed a tow line from the AWB to "Ailaire", which re-floated without incident. After confirming that all was well on the casualty and there was no damage to her hull, she continued on her passage to the Isle-of-Wight.

 


36 - 11/06/05 "Jetski"

Service Area: Off Ramsgate Sands, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 2, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a member of the public of a jetski adrift off Ramsgate main beach and no person in the sea near it. As the ILB proceeded, it was established by HMCG that the jetski had in fact been anchored as a marker by the organisers of the Power Boat Grand Prix event taking place at Ramsgate. ILB returned to station. Call designated false alarm with good intent.



37 - 15/06/05 Aid of "Windsurfers in difficulty"

Launched at 20:20 hrs and returned from service at 20:45 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 0.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 4, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of a windsurfer in the water in difficulties off the Western Undercliff. On arrival ILB found the windsurfer being assisted ashore by two fellow windsurfers. ILB stood by until all confirmed safe.



38 - 19/06/05 Yacht "Le Pauper"

Service Area: Brake Sands, 3.21 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Very Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a request for assistance from the yacht "Le Pauper", with one person. "Le Pauper" had experienced engine failure and had insufficient wind to sail. ILB towed "Le Pauper"



39 - 19/06/05 "Assistance to Police"

Service Area: Ramsgate Main Beach, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Very Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB to stand by off the Ramsgate Main Beach as the Police dealt with a threatened suicide. As ILB left harbour Police advised that the person concerned was now in a safe area. ILB returned to station.



40 - 22/06/05 Report of "Swimmer in Difficulties"

Service Area: Western Undercliff, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Very Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following the report of a person apparently swimming out to the yellow race marker off the Western Undercliff. HMCG were concerned as to the welfare of the person. ILB launched and arrived on scene to find that a motor boat "Switcheroo" had recovered the man from the water. The ILB took the man from "Switcheroo" and landed him ashore at the Undercliff.


42 - 26/06/05 Report of "2 Missing Persons"

Service Area: Ramsgate Off Main Beach, 0.25 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 8, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

Following an investigation of an incident on board a boat in Ramsgate Harbour, police had reason to believe that two persons had gone to sea in a small tender, and had not returned. As investigation continued a search was commenced for the persons. ILB launch was requested as investigation dictated, but as the boat launched confirmation was received by HMCG from the police that the persons had been accounted for and were safe ashore.



43 - 27/06/05 Motor Boat Tender to "Christina"

Service Area: South of the Port, 0.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNE force 3, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

The one person on board the casualty, made a 999 call on mobile telephone requesting assistance after suffering a fouled propeller off Ramsgate. ILB launch was requested and the lifeboat towed the tender in to Ramsgate.



44 - 30/06/05 Report of "Person in the Water"

Service Area: Off Dumpton Gap, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 3, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of a person in the water in difficulties off Dumpton Gap. ILB on scene and in conjunction with HMCG confirmed that the objects seen were lobster pot markers. False alarm with good intent.



45 - 03/07/05 Motor Boat "The Amigos"

Service Area: Turning Circle, 0.15 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 5, Moderate Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB to the motor boat "The Amigos", with three persons out of fuel in the approaches to Ramsgate. "The Amigos" was drifting onto the North Breakwater inside the turning circle, when the Ramsgate beach safety RIB got a line on her and towed her clear. ILB took over the tow and took "The Amigos" into the Royal Harbour.



47 - 03/07/05 Yacht "Arcanum"

Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 2.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 1, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

Casualty called the port control requesting assistance being becalmed and out of fuel in Pegwell bay. ILB launch was initiated after consulting with HMCG and ILB towed "Arcanum" in to Ramsgate.


51 - 16/07/05 "Small Angling Boat"

Service Area: Near Broadstairs Knoll, 3.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 3, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

The small angling boat called the Port Control requesting assistance after having engine failure near the Broadstairs Knoll. After consultation with HMCG an ILB launch was initiated and the ILB towed the boat in to Ramsgate Harbour.


52 - 16/07/05 "Persons in the Water"

Service Area: Off Ramsgate Main Beach, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 3, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from MoP of two persons in difficulty in the water off Ramsgate Main beach. As the ILB arrived confirmation was received that the persons were safely ashore. ILB found a group of students on the beach and gave them warnings as to the dangers of nocturnal bathing in the sea.


54 - 22/07/05 Motor Boat "Sweet Promise"

Service Area: East of B2 buoy, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 2, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The motor boat (ex fishing smack) "Sweet Promise", with one person, called the port control requesting assistance after suffering engine failure south of the port. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. On arrival ILB found casualty unable to sail in light wind and having intermittent engine failure due to dirty fuel. ILB gave navigational advice to clear the Brake Bank and following further engine problems took "Sweet Promise" in tow and back in to Ramsgate.

57 - 29/07/05 Motor Boat "Hunter's Moon"

Launched at 20:47 hrs and returned from service at 21:22 hrs.
Service Area: Stour Entrance, 2.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

The motor boat "Hunters Moon" with 4 persons called the port control requesting assistance after having engine failure in the River Stour entrance. "Hunters Moon" had made fast to one of the navigation beacons in the river entrance. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB towed "Hunters Moon" in to Ramsgate.

61 - 15/08/05 Yacht "Pott 40"

Launched at 13:31 hrs and returned from service at 14:08 hrs.
Service Area: East Brake, 2.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNW force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of AWB to attend the Yacht "Pott40", with six persons, which had put out a PAN message for medical assistance after a crew member fell ill. The "Pott40" advised that the crew member was unconscious, not breathing and had stomach problems. ILB launched to render first aid whilst AWB remained alongside awaiting the arrival of para-medics who had been requested by the Port Control via a 999 call. ILB crew member went aboard "Pott40" and established that the person was breathing OK, and history indicated that he had choked on his own vomit when severely seasick. Man was made comfortable until the arrival of the para-medics on board the AWB at 13:51 hrs.

Two medics went on board the "Pott40" and dealt with the man whilst the AWB escorted the casualty in to Ramsgate Harbour, where the man was landed to ambulance.



64 - 21/08/05 Report of "Person Cut off by Tide"

Service Area: East of Botany Bay, 4.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NW force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

ILB was diverted from exercise to check out a report to HMCG by a member of the public of a person cut off by the tide between Botany Bay and the Captain Digby pub. ILB attended but found nothing untoward, it being low water at the time.


67 - 09/09/05 Motor Yacht "Ishtar"

Launched at 11:08 hrs and returned from service at 11:28 hrs.
Service Area: Dyke Bank, 0.29 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 1, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The motor yacht "Ishtar" had been anchored off the Dyke Bank since p.m. of the 8th September, after failing to get in to Ramsgate due to weather and tide. The yacht had made no contact and on the following morning after some hours with no activity observed on board, the port control advised HMCG that they had some concern. After consultation, ILB was launched to investigate.

On arrival it was found that the sole occupant of "Ishtar" had been resting. "Ishtar" had no radio, telephone or flares on board and the skipper declared his intention to sail up the east coast in the traditional manner with no more equipment than his grandfather had.

After discussion with the ILB Helmsman, "Ishtar" agreed to be towed in to Ramsgate.



69 - 15/09/05 Yacht "Tabatha"

Service Area: Stour Mouth, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 3, Moderate Seas, Moderate Swell, Fair Visibility.

The yacht "Tabatha", with two persons, called the Port Control requesting assistance after running aground in the Stour Entrance. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB put a line on "Tabatha", pulled her clear of the ground and escorted her in to Ramsgate.



70 - 24/09/05 Yacht "Esprit"

Launched at 23:13 hrs and returned from service at 23:41 hrs.
Service Area: End of approach channel, 1.4 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind ESE force 2, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

Friends of the skipper of the yacht "Esprit" boarded the yacht "Haven Bay" in Ramsgate Marina and with language difficulty explained that their friend, single handed on the yacht "Esprit" off the port, needed assistance due to engine failure. "Haven Bay" immediately called the port control, and an ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. ILB towed "Esprit" in to Ramsgate.

71 - 05/10/05 Concern over a Dog in water

Service Area: Off Stone Bay, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNE force 4, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG had received a call from a MoP saying that there was a dog in difficulties in the water off Stone Bay. HMCG had a concern that someone might enter the water to attempt to rescue the dog, and requested launch of the ILB to attend. On arrival, ILB found no dog but after consulting with people on scene it was most likely that the sighting was a seal, several having been seen in the area over that last few days.


72 - 15/10/05 Recovery of a man at bottom of cliff

Launched at 23:15 hrs and returned from service at 00:07 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay Below Coastguard Cottages, 1.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind E force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG cliff rescue team had responded to a call to a person reported to have fallen over the cliffs at Pegwell. Cliff rescue team and paramedics attended, but it was found that the man had ended up at the bottom of the cliff. HMCG requested launch of the ILB and a paramedic went to the scene on the lifeboat. The paramedic and a crew member were landed with a stretcher, whilst HMCG cliff team sent two members down the cliff to assist. Paramedic attended to the person, who was then put onboard the ILB, which landed him to waiting ambulance at Ramsgate.

73 - 06/11/05 Yacht "Irish Mist"

Service Area: Inside Ramsgate Harbour, 0.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 7, Rough Seas, Nil Swell, Fair Visibility.

The Belgian yacht "Irish Mist", with two persons, called the port control for assistance after grounding inside the north breakwater, near the East Pier. ILB launch was initiated and the ILB towed "Irish Mist" off the ground and escorted her into the Royal Harbour

75 - 20/11/05 Report of Red Flares

Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 2.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a telephoned report of a red flare in the Sandwich/Pegwell Bay area. Search commenced and AWB launched to search further off shore and to co-ordinate ILB operations, on advice from the RNLI launching authority. Search was eventually called off with nothing found and cause was logged as false alarm with malicious intent.


77 - 23/11/05 Angling Boat "Alfie"

Launched at 12:46 hrs and returned from service at 13:55 hrs.
Service Area: Shellness, miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 4, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fair Visibility.

The 17ft motor boat "Alfie", with two persons, grounded at Shellness during the early morning, on passage to the Stour. HMCG ascertained that all was well on board and requested that the ILB stood by the casualty as she re floated. A planned launch was carried out and, with no problems experienced, "Alfie" proceeded up river and the ILB returned to station.


78 - 12/12/05 Report of "A Drifting Yacht"

Service Area: Off Broadstairs Harbour, 2.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 6, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested the launch of the ILB following a report from a member of the public of a yacht adrift from it's moorings outside Broadstairs harbour. ILB searched the area and found a small yacht with people on board making a normal passage towards Ramsgate. ILB returned to station. Logged as false alarm with good intent.
