23/01/04 Motor Yacht "ALEXA"
 
Launched at 20:25 hrs and returned from service at 21:57 hrs.
Service Area: North Sands Head, 4 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind S force 6, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Moderate Visibility.

4/02/04 Persons in the Water
 
Launched at 17:29 hrs and returned from service at 17:38 hrs.
Service Area: Off Ramsgate Main beach, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from MoP of two persons in difficulties and drifting in the water off the Ramsgate Main Beach, possible surf boarders. On arrival ILB found that both persons had regained the shore unaided.

 
17/02/04 Motor Boat "FOUR BOYS"
 
Launched at 10:13 hrs and returned from service at 10:55 hrs.
Service Area: Off Broadstairs Harbour, 2.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NW force 1, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
The local angling vessel "Four Boys" with four persons, called the Port Control requesting assistance following an engine failure whilst fishing off Broadstairs. After checking other craft in the vicinity, HMCG was advised and ILB launch initiated. ILB took "Four Boys" in tow to Ramsgate.

 
26/03/04 Red Flares
 
Launched at 20:30 hrs and returned from service at 21:52 hrs.
Service Area: Off Pegwell Bay, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB after reports of red flares off Pegwell Bay. Subsequent further information placed the flares Between the Gull buoy and the NE Goodwin, and AWB launch was requested. Both boats carried out a search, without results, and returned to station. HMCG considered that in the exceptional visibility at the time, these reports could have been caused by fireworks or lights from across the channel.

 
14/04/04 Rigid Inflatable
 
Launched at 10:42 hrs and returned from service at 11:20 hrs.
Service Area: Unknown, 0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, No Swell, Poor Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of both lifeboats after receiving a mobile telephone call from a rigid inflatable with two persons, which had lost it's position in fog. The RIB had left Deal at 0500 hrs bound for Margate. Search was commenced but called off at 1114 hrs, when the casualty was located off Eastbourne.

 
21/04/04 Fishing Vessel "APPRENTICE"
 
Launched at 14:25 hrs and returned from service at 14:42 hrs.
Service Area: Ramsgate Main Beach, 0.3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind VAR force 2, Rippled Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
Port Control was advised by the lifeboat Cox'n that the local fishing vessel "Apprentice" with two persons, was adrift off Ramsgate Main beach. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB towed "Apprentice" in to Ramsgate Harbour.

 
24/04/04 Yacht "RETROSPECTIVE"
 
Launched at hrs and returned from service at hrs.
Service Area: Off Northforeland, 4.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB to the yacht "Retrospective", with three persons, broken down and becalmed off Northforeland. ILB launched and towed "Retrospective" in to Ramsgate Harbour.

 
06/05/04 Fishing Vessel "APPRENTICE"
 
Launched at 15:50 hrs and returned from service at 16:10 hrs.
Service Area: Dumpton Gap, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSE force 5, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The local Fishing Vessel "Apprentice", with three persons called the port control requesting assistance after suffering engine breakdown off Dumpton Gap. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB towed "Apprentice" back in to Ramsgate.

 
16/05/04 Motor Boat "SUMMER WINE"
 
Launched at 14:04 hrs and returned from service at 14:30 hrs.
Service Area: West of East Brake Buoy, 2.3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 1, Rippled Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following several "999" calls from the public reporting a small boat on fire off Broadstairs. ILB searched and came up with the small angling boat "Summer Wine". "Summer Wine" crew advised that the boat's engine was very smoky when it started and she had got under way about the time of the alarm calls. False alarm with good intent.

 
22/05/04 Yacht "PHOENIX"
 
Launched at 22:44 hrs and returned from service at 00:03 hrs.
Service Area: Goodwin Sands, 4.2 miles from Station.

01/06/04 Persons in Difficulties
 
Launched at 15:37 hrs and returned from service at 15:46 hrs.
Service Area: Near Winterstoke Beacon, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind ESE force 2, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of persons in a dinghy in trouble off Ramsgate. ILB launched and on arrival found it was two of the Ramsgate beach safety team carrying out safety exercises. Logged as false alarm with good intent.

 
07/06/04 Yacht "ANTARES"
 
Launched at 11:04 hrs and returned from service at 11:32 hrs.
Service Area: West Quern, 0.84 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 3, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The Yacht "Antares" contacted the Port Control requesting assistance. Yacht's rudder was jammed after making contact with the Quern Bank. ILB launched and on arrival yacht's crew had freed the rudder. ILB escorted "Antares" back in to Ramsgate.

 
11/06/04 Yacht "MUANA"
 
Launched at 15:06 hrs and returned from service at 15:32 hrs.
Service Area: North Brake, 1.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 3, Rippled Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a request for assistance from the yacht "Muana", with two persons. "Muana" had suffered engine failure and had insufficient wind to make headway towards Ramsgate. ILB launched and towed "Muana" in to Ramsgate.
 
15/06/04 Children Adrift on Inflatable
 
Launched at 15:27 hrs and returned from service at 15:47 hrs.
Service Area: Off Broadstairs, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 10, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The Station received a telephone call from the Bay Inspector at Broadstairs that 2 children were drifting out to sea on an inflatable and appeared to be unable to paddle against the tide. HMCG were advised, and ILB launched, but was recalled upon advices that the children had in fact made their own way ashore.

 
21/07/04 Person in the Water
 
Launched at 19:42 hrs and returned from service at 19:58 hrs.
Service Area: Viking Bay, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind S force 3, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report of a man swimming out to sea in pursuit of a dog at Viking Bay, from a MoP. On arrival the ILB found that the man had returned ashore. The ILB took the swimming dog "Casper" on board and returned him to the man on the beach.

22/07/04 Sloop "CALEIDOSCOPE"
 
Launched at 15:57 hrs and returned from service at 16:42 hrs.
Service Area: East Brake Buoy, 2.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind ENE force 2, Slight Seas, No Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
The Yacht "Caleidoscope" with four persons, called the port control requesting assistance, following an engine breakdown. The family on board were disorientated and reluctant to use the sails. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB towed "Caleidoscope" in to Ramsgate.

 
06/08/04 Yacht "A-NOC"
 
Launched at 16:59 hrs and returned from service at 17:53 hrs.
Service Area: In River Stour, 2.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 3, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a relayed message via Cross Griz Nez from the French Yacht "A-Noc". "A-Noc", with two persons was aground in the River Stour entrance and requested assistance. ILB launched and assisted the yacht in re-floating herself.

 
07/08/04 Assistance of Small Angling Boat
 
Launched at 21:00 hrs and returned from service at 21:17 hrs.
Service Area: Western Undercliff, 0.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 1, Rippled Seas, No Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from MoP of two men in a small dinghy in difficulties off the Western Undercliff. ILB launched and found a small angling boat unable to re-start it's outboard motor. ILB towed the craft to the launching ramp at the Western Undercliff.

 
10/08/04 Red Flares
 
Launched at 03:37 hrs and returned from service at 04:28 hrs.
Service Area: Mouth of the River Stour, 2.2 miles from Station.

11/08/04 Windsurfer in Difficulties
 
Launched at 16:03 hrs and returned from service at 16:25 hrs.
Service Area: Sandwich Bay, 3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSE force 3, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of a windsurfer in distress half a mile offshore in Sandwich Bay. ILB launched and on arrival found that the surfer had suffered a broken surfboard, but had made his own way ashore.

 
18/08/04 RIB "SEASTAR"
 
Launched at 21:33 hrs and returned from service at 22:19 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 1.32 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 7, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The RIB "Seastar", with two persons, called the Port Control on VHF 14 stating that she was aground at the mouth of the Stour. She had been awaiting the rise of tide, but could not now get her engine started, and requested assistance. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. On arrival the ILB stood by as the tide rose, and then took "Seastar" in tow in to Ramsgate harbour.

 
21/08/04 Dog Trapped on Beach
 
Launched at 15:52 hrs and returned from service at 16:24 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 1.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 4, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested lifeboat assistance after a MoP had called to report a dog having fallen over the cliff at Pegwell, and now on the beach, cut off by the tide. ILB launched and found the dog on the beach, fit and well. Dog was reunited with owner at the artificial beach (dog's ball not recovered !)

 
06/09/04 Swimmers in Difficulty
 
Launched at 18:34 hrs and returned from service at 18:43 hrs.
Service Area: Seaward of East Pier, 0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNE force 7, Moderate Seas, Moderate Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of both lifeboats following an unclear 999 call from a MoP advising of two young boys in the water off the Ramsgate East Pier. On arrival, lifeboats found that the boys had been in the water at the seaward side of the East Pier, but had managed to scramble ashore.

 
08/09/04 Swimmer in Ramsgate Harbour
 
Launched at 21:30 hrs and returned from service at 21:37 hrs.
Service Area: East Pier, 0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind ENE force 5, Moderate Seas, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a request from the Ambulance Service who were dealing with a person in the water in the East Gully, refusing to come ashore. ILB launched, recovered the persons and landed him to Ambulance crew at the boathouse.

 
12/09/04 Kite Surfer in Difficulty
 
Launched at 10:26 hrs and returned from service at 10:49 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 1.8 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WSW force 5, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report of a kite surfer in difficulties in Pegwell Bay, drifting towards Ramsgate. ILB located the board, but no person and requested launch of the AWB to assist in the search. Just after the AWB launched, the surfer was located safe ashore. Lifeboats returned to station.

 
22/09/04 Fishing Boat NEW DAWN
 
Launched at 15:06 hrs and returned from service at 15:32 hrs.
Service Area: Dumpton Gap, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 7, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
Local m.f.v. "New Dawn", with one person, called the Port Control advising that she was immobilised with nets around her propeller, off Dumpton Gap. No other craft were in the vicinity and an ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. ILB crew assisted in freeing "New Dawn" from the nets, and towed her in to Ramsgate harbour.

 
11/10/04 Person in Water
 
Launched at 21:10 hrs and returned from service at 21:20 hrs.
Service Area: Ramsgate Harbour, East Pier, 0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind E force 6, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The Port Control Officer observed Police and Ambulance Crew talking to a man in the water under the Port Control Building, inside the East Pier. An ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB picked up the man from the water and landed him to emergency services at the boathouse.

 
16/10/04 Person Cut off by Tide
 
Launched at 14:38 hrs and returned from service at 14:45 hrs.
Service Area: Near Dumpton, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report of a person cut off by the tide near Dumpton. ILB recovered the person from the beach and took him in to Ramsgate.

 
31/10/04 Person in Water
 
Launched at 01:33 hrs and returned from service at 01:55 hrs.
Service Area: Ramsgate Harbour Inner Marina, 0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 1, Calm Seas, No Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
HMCG requested immediate launch of the ILB in response to a call from the Fire Brigade who were dealing with a person struggling in the water in the Inner Marina. ILB recovered person from the water and landed to emergency services.

11/11/04 Fishing Vessel "DAWN DIVER"
 
Launched at 17:08 hrs and returned from service at 17:32 hrs.
Service Area: West Quern, 0.75 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNW force 1, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The local fishing vessel "Dawn Diver" with one person called the Port Control requesting assistance following an engine failure and being close to the West Quern. ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. The local angling boat "Bonaventure" proceeded to assist if necessary. ILB towed "Dawn Diver" in to Ramsgate.

 
20/11/04 Motor Boat "HAYLEY JADE"
 
Launched at 11:31 hrs and returned from service at 12:00 hrs.
Service Area: Off Broadstairs Harbour, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W X N force 3, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The Motor Boat "Hayley Jade", with three persons, called the Port Control saying that the vessel had lost steering, and water was entering through the stern gland. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB towed "Hayley Jade" back in to Ramsgate.
