- The local angling vessel "Four Boys" with four
persons, called the Port Control requesting assistance
following an engine failure whilst fishing off
Broadstairs. After checking other craft in the vicinity,
HMCG was advised and ILB launch initiated. ILB took "Four
Boys" in tow to Ramsgate.

Station.

- HMCG requested launch of the ILB after reports of red
flares off Pegwell Bay. Subsequent further information
placed the flares Between the Gull buoy and the NE
Goodwin, and AWB launch was requested. Both boats carried
out a search, without results, and returned to station.
HMCG considered that in the exceptional visibility at the
time, these reports could have been caused by fireworks
or lights from across the channel.

- HMCG requested launch of both lifeboats after
receiving a mobile telephone call from a rigid inflatable
with two persons, which had lost it's position in fog.
The RIB had left Deal at 0500 hrs bound for Margate.
Search was commenced but called off at 1114 hrs, when the
casualty was located off Eastbourne.

- The local Fishing Vessel "Apprentice", with three
persons called the port control requesting assistance
after suffering engine breakdown off Dumpton Gap. ILB
launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB towed
"Apprentice" back in to Ramsgate.

- HMCG requested launch of the ILB following several
"999" calls from the public reporting a small boat on
fire off Broadstairs. ILB searched and came up with the
small angling boat "Summer Wine". "Summer Wine" crew
advised that the boat's engine was very smoky when it
started and she had got under way about the time of the
alarm calls. False alarm with good intent.

exercises. Logged as false alarm with good intent.

- The Yacht "Antares" contacted the Port Control
requesting assistance. Yacht's rudder was jammed after
making contact with the Quern Bank. ILB launched and on
arrival yacht's crew had freed the rudder. ILB escorted
"Antares" back in to Ramsgate.

"Muana" had suffered engine failure and had insufficient

towed "Muana" in to Ramsgate.

- The Station received a telephone call from the Bay
Inspector at Broadstairs that 2 children were drifting
out to sea on an inflatable and appeared to be unable to
paddle against the tide. HMCG were advised, and ILB
launched, but was recalled upon advices that the children
had in fact made their own way ashore.

- HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report
of a man swimming out to sea in pursuit of a dog at
Viking Bay, from a MoP. On arrival the ILB found that the
man had returned ashore. The ILB took the swimming dog
"Casper" on board and returned him to the man on the
beach.

the port control requesting assistance, following an
engine breakdown. The family on board were disorientated
and reluctant to use the sails. ILB launch was initiated
and HMCG advised. ILB towed "Caleidoscope" in to
Ramsgate.

message via Cross Griz Nez from the French Yacht "A-Noc".
"A-Noc", with two persons was aground in the River Stour
entrance and requested assistance. ILB launched and
assisted the yacht in re-floating herself.

the Western Undercliff. ILB launched and found a small
angling boat unable to re-start it's outboard motor. ILB
towed the craft to the launching ramp at the Western
Undercliff.

from a MoP of a windsurfer in distress half a mile
offshore in Sandwich Bay. ILB launched and on arrival
found that the surfer had suffered a broken surfboard,
but had made his own way ashore.

- The RIB "Seastar", with two persons, called the Port
Control on VHF 14 stating that she was aground at the
mouth of the Stour. She had been awaiting the rise of
tide, but could not now get her engine started, and
requested assistance. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG
advised. On arrival the ILB stood by as the tide rose,
and then took "Seastar" in tow in to Ramsgate
harbour.

- HMCG requested lifeboat assistance after a MoP had
called to report a dog having fallen over the cliff at
Pegwell, and now on the beach, cut off by the tide. ILB
launched and found the dog on the beach, fit and well.
Dog was reunited with owner at the artificial beach
(dog's ball not recovered !)

- HMCG requested launch of both lifeboats following an
unclear 999 call from a MoP advising of two young boys in
the water off the Ramsgate East Pier. On arrival,
lifeboats found that the boys had been in the water at
the seaward side of the East Pier, but had managed to
scramble ashore.

from the Ambulance Service who were dealing with a person
in the water in the East Gully, refusing to come ashore.
ILB launched, recovered the persons and landed him to
Ambulance crew at the boathouse.

- HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report
of a kite surfer in difficulties in Pegwell Bay, drifting
towards Ramsgate. ILB located the board, but no person
and requested launch of the AWB to assist in the search.
Just after the AWB launched, the surfer was located safe
ashore. Lifeboats returned to station.

- Local m.f.v. "New Dawn", with one person, called the
Port Control advising that she was immobilised with nets
around her propeller, off Dumpton Gap. No other craft
were in the vicinity and an ILB launch was initiated,
HMCG being advised. ILB crew assisted in freeing "New
Dawn" from the nets, and towed her in to Ramsgate
harbour.

- The Port Control Officer observed Police and
Ambulance Crew talking to a man in the water under the
Port Control Building, inside the East Pier. An ILB
launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB picked up the
man from the water and landed him to emergency services
at the boathouse.
