04/01/02 Fishing Vessel "REBECCA LOUISE"
 
Launched at 12:21 hrs and returned from service at 12:50 hrs.
Service Area: South of B2 Buoy, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 5, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The fishing vessel "Rebecca Louise" with two persons on board called the Port Control saying that she had broken down and needed assistance. No other vessels were nearby and after consulting with Dover MRCC the ILB was launched. ILB towed "Rebecca Louise" back in to Ramsgate.

 
16/02/02 Person cut off by tide
 
Launched at 12:29 hrs and returned from service at 12:48 hrs.
Service Area: Near Dumpton Gap, 1 mile from Station.
Weather: Wind NNE force 5, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following report of a man and a dog cut off by the tide on the beach between Ramsgate and Dumpton Gap. ILB took the man and dog from the beach and brought them in to Ramsgate Harbour.

 
17/02/02 Motor Boat "SEA JAY"
 
Launched at 01:06 hrs and returned from service at 01:25 hrs.
Service Area: South of Breakwaters, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 4, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The Port Control observed two small vessels, apparently drifting, south of the breakwaters. With no communications and with danger of the craft drifting onto the breakwaters, an ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised.
ILB found one of the boats disabled with engine failure and the other attempting to assist. ILB took the disabled craft in tow back in to Ramsgate.

 
21/02/02 Fishing Vessel "REBECCA LOUISE"
 
Launched at 12:24 hrs and returned from service at 13:10 hrs.
Service Area: South of Brake Sands, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WNW force 3, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The local fishing vessel "Rebecca Louise", with two persons, suffered a fouled propeller whilst off the Brake Sands. Vessel called the Port Control requesting assistance and after consulting with HMCG, an ILB launch was initiated. ILB proceeded and towed "Rebecca Louise" in to Ramsgate.

 
30/03/02 Motor Boat "JUST THE ONE"
 
Launched at 13:12 hrs and returned from service at 13:33 hrs.
Service Area: South Side of Stour Entrance, 2.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSE force 4, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The motor boat "Just-the-One", with one person called the Port control requesting assistance after running aground on the south side of the Stour entrance. Casualty had been unable to raise Coastguard on VHF. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB refloated "Just-the-One", which continued its passage to Sandwich.

 
01/04/02 A dog cut off by tide
 
Launched at 13:27 hrs and returned from service at 13:40 hrs.
Service Area: Dumpton Gap,1.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of ILB after report from MoP of a dog in distress and cut off by the tide near Dumpton Gap. ILB launched and bought the dog in to Ramsgate to Coastguard.

 
14/04/02 Fishing Vessel "REBECCA LOUISE"
 
Launched at 17:52 hrs and returned from service at 18:28 hrs.
Service Area: SW of Ramsgate Channel, 6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WNW force 1, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The local fishing vessel "Rebecca Louise", with two persons, called the Port Control requesting assistance following an engine seizure. After advising HMCG the ILB was launched. The ILB towed "Rebecca Louise" back in to Ramsgate harbour.

 
28/04/02 Yacht "GIMMINY KRICKET"
 
Launched at 15:30 hrs and returned from service at 16:16 hrs.
Service Area: Near East Brake, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 8, Rough Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

30/05/02 Motor Boat "ROBBIE B"
 
Launched at 06:38 hrs and returned from service at 07:01 hrs.
Service Area: South of Ramsgate, 1.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 4, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The local motor boat "Robbie B", with one person called the Ramsgate Port control requesting assistance after having engine failure about a mile south of Ramsgate. No other craft were in the area and after advising HMCG, an ILB launch was initiated. The ILB towed "Robbie B" in to Ramsgate.

 
11/06/02 Fishing Vessel "REBECCA LOUISE"
 
Launched at 19:06 hrs and returned from service at 19:28 hrs.
Service Area: Near B2 Buoy, 1.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 5, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The local fishing vessel "Rebecca Louise", with two persons, called the Ramsgate Port Control requesting assistance after fouling his propeller on nets. No other vessels were in the vicinity and ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. ILB towed "Rebecca Louise" back in to Ramsgate.

 
15/06/02 Suspected missing Kite Surfer
 
Launched at 16:00 hrs and returned from service at 18:53 hrs.
Service Area: Sandwich Bay, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 5, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG Requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP of a surfer kite being blown out to sea, but not being able to see if there was a surfer attached to it. ILB launched on search, along with Walmer Lifeboat, in the Sandwich Bay area. Walmer Lifeboat recovered the kite, and a search for a possible missing person was resumed, Ramsgate AWB being launched at 1630 hrs. The Ramsgate Lifeboats were released from the incident at 1820 hrs, with nothing found, and the incident was closed by the coastguards at 1940 hrs, still with nothing found and no report of any missing person.
At the time of release from this search, ILB was tasked to the yacht "Amun" (See below)

 
15/06/02 Yacht "AMUN"
 
Launched at 18:20 hrs and returned from service at 18:53 hrs.
Service Area: Off Broadstairs, 3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 5, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The ILB, already at sea, closed the yacht "Amun", with one person, stopped off Broadstairs. The "Amun" requested assistance as his engine had broken down and he was unable to sail. ILB towed "Amun" in to Ramsgate Harbour.

 
16/06/02 Yacht "AMUN"
 
Launched at 10:46 hrs and returned from service at 11:19 hrs.
Service Area: By East Brake Buoy, 2.4 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WSW force 5, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The yacht "Amun", with one person, having just sailed from Ramsgate, called the Port Control saying that his engine had failed and that he was unable to sail against the tide. HMCG were advised, and ILB launch initiated. ILB towed "Amun" in to Ramsgate.

19/06/02 Persons cut off by tide
 
Launched at 18:01 hrs and returned from service at 18:12 hrs.
Service Area: Eastern Undercliff to Dumpton Gap, 1.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 2, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from MoP of two persons and a dog cut off by the tide near Dumpton Gap. On arrival the ILB crew ascertained from bystanders that the persons and the dog had made their own way ashore, unaided. Call logged as false alarm with good intent.

 
22/06/02 Children adrift on inflatable
 
Launched at 16:56 hrs and returned from service at 17:20 hrs.
Service Area: Viking Bay, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 5, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested the immediate launch of the ILB, following several reports from MoP of two children being blown out to sea on an inflatable, off Viking Bay. ILB launched and on arrival found that the children had been brought ashore by Beach Lifeguards.

 
24/06/02 Upturned boat in water
 
Launched at 13:56 hrs and returned from service at 14:19 hrs.
Service Area: Fayreness Hotel, 4 miles from Station.

30/06/02 Motor Boat "KELLY ROO"
 
Launched at 15:00 hrs and returned from service at 15:23 hrs.
Service Area: Off Granville Hotel, 1.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The Motor Boat "Kelly Roo", with four persons, called the Port Control requesting assistance after breaking down off Ramsgate. Port Control advised HMCG and ILB was launched. The ILB towed "Kelly Roo" in to Ramsgate harbour.

 
7/07/02 Man Overboard
 
Launched at 09:54 hrs and returned from service at 10:48 hrs.
Service Area: Off Broadstairs, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 4, Slight Seas, No Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following hearing the spoken word "Mayday" on VHF Ch 16. Investigation found that a man had fallen overboard from a small angling boat off Broadstairs. Both boats launched. On arrival, the ILB found the small boat "Eskimo" with two men on board, holding on to a third man who was in the water, unable to get him inboard. ILB recovered the man from the water on to the AWB, which proceeded back to Ramsgate and landed the man to an ambulance. The ILB escorted "Eskimo" back in to Ramsgate. The man was treated in hospital for hypothermia, and released.

 
10/07/02 Small Outboard
 
Launched at 16:00 hrs and returned from service at 16:03 hrs.
Service Area: Inside Harbour, 0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 5, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
A member of the public on the Ramsgate East Pier advised the Port Control that a small outboard boat with one person was drifting on to the inside of the harbour north breakwater. ILB launch was initiated, and HMCG advised. Meanwhile, the workboat "Bumble", afloat nearby, put a line on the boat and transferred this tow to the ILB on arrival. The ILB towed the small boat in to Ramsgate Harbour, where it transpired that the distress had been due to the boat's out board engine falling off.

21/07/02 Small Sailing Dinghy
 
Launched at 14:16 hrs and returned from service at 14:41 hrs.
Service Area: Off Dumpton Gap, 1.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WNW force 4, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested immediate launch of the ILB following reports from MoP of a Topper Class dinghy with two persons capsizing and in difficulties off Broadstairs. ILB located the dinghy off Dumpton Gap, with an inexperienced crew having difficulty in controlling the craft. The ILB towed the dinghy in to Broadstairs Harbour.

 
28/07/02 Children adrift on inflatable
 
Launched at 12:21 hrs and returned from service at 12:28 hrs.
Service Area: Off Ramsgate Main Sands, 0.8 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 1, Slight Seas, No Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
HMCG requested the immediate launch of the ILB following a report of two children drifting off shore on an inflatable. On arrival ILB found that the beach lifeguards had returned the children to shore.

 
1/08/02 Trimaran "TRIDENT"
 
Launched at 01:44 hrs and returned from service at 02:58 hrs.
Service Area: Viking Bay, 1.9 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 1, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The trimaran "Trident" with one person, called HMCG after finding herself taking water whilst on passage from Holland to Ramsgate. When her pump failed, the owner decided to beach the boat at Viking bay. HMCG requested immediate launch of the ILB. On arrival, the ILB found "Trident", aground on the rocks off Viking Bay, with the owner wading ashore. ILB crew ascertained the well being of the owner, and then freed "Trident" from the rocks and beached on the sand at Viking Bay. Later that day, "Trident" was patched and towed to Ramsgate.

 
7/08/02 Fishing Vessel "REBECCA LOUISE"
 
Launched at 18:49 hrs and returned from service at 19:31 hrs.
Service Area: Sandwich Bay, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 2, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The local fishing vessel "Rebecca Louise", with two persons, called the Ramsgate Port Control saying that she had fouled her propeller with fishing nets, and requesting assistance. ILB Launch was initiated, with HMCG being advised.
On arrival, the ILB crew found that the "Rebecca Louise" might be making water through the stern glands, and after clearing the nets, took the casualty crew on board, whilst towing "Rebecca Louise" in to Ramsgate.

 
9/08/02 Motor Boat "UNCLE BUCK"
 
Launched at 12:31 hrs and returned from service at 13:09 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 1.8 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind S force 4, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
The yacht "Lady Ceres" called the Port Control to report having passed a motor boat, with two persons, waving to them as they passed, and apparently in distress. ILB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. On arrival, the ILB found the motor boat "Uncle Buck" broken down and requesting assistance. ILB towed "Uncle Buck" back to her moorings at Richborough.

 
12/08/02 Yacht "DUET"
 
Launched at 09:06 hrs and returned from service at 09:26 hrs.
Service Area: Quern Bank, 0.8 miles from Station.

12/08/02 Yacht Aground
 
Launched at 10:46 hrs and returned from service at 10:50 hrs.
Service Area: Quern Bank, 0.8 miles from Station.

Crew in the boathouse observed a racing yacht go aground on the Quern Bank. Port Control was advised and the ILB, already in the water, proceeded. On arrival, ILB found the yacht had refloated herself, and was continuing with the race. ILB returned to station.

 
13/08/02 Yacht "KENTISH CLUBBER"
 
Launched at 23:06 hrs and returned from service at 23:28 hrs.
Service Area: North of B2 Buoy, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WSW force 2, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The Yacht "Kentish Clubber", with one person, called the Port Control requesting assistance after fouling her propeller with a rope and having insufficient wind to sail. ILB launch was initiated, and HMCG advised. ILB proceeded and towed "Kentish Clubber" in to Ramsgate.

 
14/08/02 Yacht "PROTEUS"
 
Launched at 12:51 hrs and returned from service at 13:33 hrs.
Service Area: North Sand Head, 4.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SE force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a request for assistance from the yacht "Proteus", with one person, aground on the North Sand Head. ILB proceeded and towed "Proteus" in to Ramsgate.

 
20/0802 Yacht "RUBY"
 
Launched at 18:55 hrs and returned from service at 19:05 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WSW force 1, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a report from a MoP, of a yacht aground in Pegwell Bay, with people in the water. ILB proceeded and on arrival found the yacht "Ruby" deliberately grounded whilst awaiting the tide to go up river. No assistance was required. ILB returned to Station. False alarm with good intent.

 
29/08/02 Power Boat "LADY IN RED"
 
Launched at 16:07 hrs and returned from service at 17:16 hrs.
Service Area: River Stour Entrance, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind S force 4, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested launch of the ILB to the power boat "Lady in Red", with five persons, which had broken down and lost its anchor in the Stour entrance. ILB proceeded and towed "Lady in Red" to Sandwich River slipway. (On her return down river, ILB was tasked to the yacht "Mizpah" - see next service)

 
29/08/02 Yacht "MIZPAH"
 
Launched at 16:50 hrs and returned from service at 17:16 hrs.
Service Area: Shellness, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind S force 4, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
Port Control was advised by a shipyard in Sandwich that the yacht "Mizpah" with two persons, was aground at Shellness. The ILB was at the time coming down river returning from a previous service and, with HMCG being advised, assisted "Mizpah" to refloat and towed her in to Ramsgate.

 
2/9/02 Children in difficulties in water
 
Launched at 16:54 hrs and returned from service at 16:56 hrs.
Service Area: Back of East Pier, 0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind ENE force 7, Rough Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
Boathouse received a report of two children in difficulties in the water outside the east pier. Port Control advised and ILB launch initiated. Two children were in trouble in broken water at the back of the East pier. Beach Lifeguards recovered one boy whilst the other was being thrown against the pier wall and being pushed out to sea. The angling boat "Bonaventure" and the RIB's "Greys Wish" and "Child's Play" proceeded to the incident. Prior to the arrival of the ILB the RIB "Child's Play" had recovered the other boy from the hazardous confused seas. Youngster was taken to boathouse and landed to ambulance.

 
12/9/02 Tender to "SEA SEARCHER"
 
Launched at 11:28 hrs and returned from service at 12:21 hrs.
Service Area: Near Goodwin Fork, 2.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 4, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Moderate Visibility.
 
The small open boat, tender to "Sea Searcher", with one person, called the port control requesting assistance after having outboard engine failure. ILB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. ILB towed the dinghy back in to Ramsgate.

 
25/10/02 Catamaran "PLAYSTATION"
 
Launched at 10:01 hrs and returned from service at 10:20 hrs.
Service Area: , End of Approach Channel 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 7, Rough Seas, Low Swell, Moderate Visibility.

25/10/02 Kite Surfer in difficulties
 
Launched at 15:50 hrs and returned from service at 15:59 hrs.
Service Area: Off Ramsgate Main Beach, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind WSW force 6, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.
 
HMCG requested immediate launch of the ILB following a report from a member of the public of a kite surfer in the water in difficulties off Ramsgate Main beach.
 
ILB recovered the surfer from the water and brought him in to Ramsgate Harbour. 

 
16/12/02 Angling Boat "MARITA"
 
Launched at 10:07 hrs and returned from service at 10:59 hrs.
Service Area: Off North Foreland, 3.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The angling boat "Marita", with two persons, called the port control for assistance after suffering engine failure whilst fishing off North Foreland. HMCG were consulted and ILB launch initiated. The ILB towed "Marita" in to moorings at Broadstairs Harbour.

 
17/12/02 Motor Boat "TRICKS US"
 
Launched at 13:56 hrs and returned from service at 15:02 hrs.
Service Area: Pegwell Bay, Stour Estuary, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind E X N force 5, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Poor Visibility.
 
The small motor boat "Tricks Us", with two persons, called HMCG requesting assistance after having engine failure when fishing in the Stour Estuary. Lifeboat launch was requested and ILB proceeded. On arrival ILB found "Tricks Us" to be hard aground. ILB returned to harbour to fetch an anchor which was taken out to the casualty and put out. ILB returned to Ramsgate with the two persons, to return to refloat her on the tide.

 
17/12/02 Motor Boat "TRICKS US"
 
Launched at 20:28 hrs and returned from service at 22:24 hrs.
Service Area: River Stour, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNE force 5, Moderate Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
Planned launch to refloat the motor boat "Tricks Us" (See Service above). ILB took the two crew to "Tricks Us". Casualty was refloated and towed to it's moorings at Sandwich.

 
27/12/02 Fishing Boat "APPRENTICE"
 
Launched at 16:31 hrs and returned from service at 17:17 hrs.
Service Area: Brake Bank, 2.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 3, Slight Seas, No Swell, Good Visibility.
 
The small fishing vessel "Apprentice", with three persons, called the port control requesting assistance, following engine clutch failure when fishing near the Brake Bank. HMCG were advised and ILB launch initiated. ILB towed "Apprentice" back in to Ramsgate.
