Identification information was passed to HMCG and after much effort the casualty was righted and a tow secured. However, it was found that as soon as towing commenced the waterlogged boat capsized again and combined with the rough seas caused chafing and consequent parting of the towing bridle. The length of the tow was varied, as was the towing arrangement but could not be improved upon and in addition the available tow securing points on the casualty failed as each was used. Eventually it was decided to abandon the tow, with HMCG salvage tug being instructed to leave Boulogne to locate and recover the boat.
