74 - 31/12/07 Cabin Cruiser "Trinity"

Launched at 15:35 hrs and returned from service at 17:19 hrs.
Service Area: Near NE Spit, 10 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm force 0, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the cabin cruiser "Trinity" with three persons, disabled with engine failure near the NE Spit buoy. AWB took "Trinity" in tow in to Ramsgate.


71 - 19/12/07 Dutch Barge "Poseidon"

Service Area: Near Longnose Buoy, 5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind E force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The dutch barge "Poseidon", with six persons called the Port Control requesting assistance following a drive failure whilst off North Foreland. AWB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. AWB came up with "Poseidon" by the Longnose Buoy and took her in tow to Ramsgate.


69 - 13/12/07 Dutch Barge "O'niall"

Service Area: Interbank, 17 miles from Station.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the dutch barge "O'niall", with four persons, disabled by a fuel pump failure near the Inter Bank buoy. AWB proceeded and towed "O'niall" in to Ramsgate.


68 - 08/12/07 Yacht "Syrinx"

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Syrinx", with 2 persons, disabled with engine failure in heavy weather off North Foreland. AWB took "Syrinx" in tow back in to Ramsgate.


67 - 01/12/07 Search for a "Kitesurfer"

Service Area: East of B2 buoy, 1.3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of both lifeboats following a report from a MoP of an unmanned surfboard adrift in Sandwich Bay. HMCG mobile unit had been unable to locate the owner of the board. AWB recovered a kite from a kite surfing rig. The lifeboats boats conducted a co-ordinated search, but with nothing found and no persons reported missing,  the search was called off and boats returned to station.


65 - 27/11/07 Motor Boat "Quovis"

Service Area: East Goodwin, 7.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 1, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the motor boat "Quovis", with one person on board. "Quovis" had advised HMCG that the vessel's smoke alarm had sounded and there was a smell of burning on board. Nothing untoward was found when AWB arrived on scene, and the lifeboat escorted "Quovis" into Ramsgate.


64 - 09/11/07 Report of "Windsurfers in difficulties"

Service Area: Joss Bay, 4 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NW force 8-9, Very Rough Seas, Moderate Swell, Very Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following receipt of a report that a surfer in Joss Bay had been swept away from the bay and last seen against the cliff to the east of the bay. In view of the weather and to provide a lee and backup for the ILB, if needed, both boats were launched. After launching, the Cox'n consulted with HMCG and the Wattersham rescue helicopter was tasked to the incident (but cancelled prior to arrival). On the lifeboats' arrival it was found that two surfers had found their way to the concrete apron under the water pumping station, and were, temporarily, in a safe position. The Lifeboats stood off  the scene assisting with comms and availability if needed, and at this stage a Police helicopter in the area patrolling for flood/damage surveillance was diverted to the incident. This helicopter stood off the cliff area and provided HMCG cliff rescue team with observational information. (The Police helicopter also gave advice by tannoy to other surfers in the water, and Police on the beach tried to advise surfers on shore that conditions were too hazardous). HMCG cliff rescue team recovered the two surfers from the apron and the third eventually made his own way to the base of the cliff and through the water to safety.


61 - 28/10/07 Motor Yacht "Kris"

Service Area: Broadstairs Harbour, 2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 7, Rough Seas, Moderate Swell, Poor Visibility.

The single handed motor yacht "Kris" had been towed into Broadstairs Harbour by a local vessel, after suffering  failure of one engine. In the worsening weather it was found impossible to secure "Kris" in the harbour and it became likely that the vessel would damage itself and/or other craft in the moorings. The Broadstairs Sailing Club called the port control with a sitrep and AWB launch was initiated whilst "Kris" was escorted clear of the Harbour moorings by local craft. AWB met "Kris" off  Broadstairs Harbour and took her in tow to Ramsgate.


60 - 10/10/07 Motor Yacht "Scary Mary"

Service Area: Sandwich Bay, 3.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNE force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The Motor Yacht "Scary Mary" with four persons on board called the Ramsgate Port Control requesting assistance after suffering an engine failure whilst in Sandwich Bay. AWB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. AWB towed "Scary Mary" in to Ramsgate.


59 - 29/09/07 Yacht "Kiakaha"

Service Area: Mid Falls, 14.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 6, Rough Seas, Moderate Swell, Poor Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Kiakaha" with two persons. "Kiakaha" had suffered a broken rudder and was unable to steer. AWB took "Kiakaha" in tow into Ramsgate.


58 - 28/09/07 Assistance of a "Windsurfer"

Service Area: Off Louisa Bay, 2.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 7, Rough Seas, Moderate Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a 999 call reporting a windsurfer in the water and unable to regain his board, off Broadstairs. In view of the weather, it was decided to launch the AWB to provide a better recovery platform. AWB located the windsurfer and took him on board. Windsurfer was landed at Ramsgate.


57 - 16/09/07 Yacht "Gleedance"

Service Area: Stour Mouth, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Rough Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The yacht "Gleedance", with 9 persons called the port control requesting assistance after suffering engine failure when at the mouth of the Stour. AWB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. AWB towed "Gleedance" into Ramsgate.


49 - 26/08/07 Yacht "Lazy Days"

Launched at 10:12 hrs and returned from service at 12:43 hrs.
Service Area: Near F1 Buoy, 15 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 3, Slight Seas, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the motor yacht "Lazy Days", with engine failure near the F1 buoy and with three persons on board. AWB towed "Lazy Days" in to Ramsgate.


48 - 25/08/07 Yacht "Oxygene"

Launched at 18:16 hrs and returned from service at 20:19 hrs.
Service Area: North Sands Head, 5.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 3, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fair Visibility.

Further to service number 46, both lifeboats launched as planned on the rising tide. Line was put on board "Oxygene" and AWB held her into the tide as she re floated. AWB towed "Oxygene" in to Ramsgate.


44 - 12/08/07 Search for "Jetskier"

Launched at 19:25 hrs and returned from service at 20:28 hrs.
Service Area: Sandwich Bay, miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

A local diving boat found an unmanned jetski circling, with engine running. HMCG were advised and Walmer and Ramsgate Lifeboats were requested to launch for search. Shortly afterwards HMCG found the jetskier at the launch site at the Western Undercliff, and the search was called off. On returning to station, the AWB sighted a 4x4 vehicle stuck in the mud on the north side of the Stour entrance, with two persons in it. AWB stood by whilst HMCG contacted the persons and it was found that they had driven the vehicle down in an attempt to recover the jetski. With night falling and tide rising, rescue helicopter 125 was tasked whilst HMCG tried to persuade the two persons to leave the vehicle. Eventually the men left the vehicle and the helicopter dropped a marker buoy over the obstruction. All units stood down.


43 - 09/08/07 Assistance of injury on board yacht "Bravour"

Service Area: Off Deal Pier, 7.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNW force 3, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The skipper of the yacht  "Bravour" called the port control requesting assistance for his teen age son who had suffered a head injury. AWB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. Walmer Lifeboat was also launched, with para-medic on board. AWB crew member was put on board the casualty vessel for communications and to assess the injury. Para-medic arrived shortly afterwards and the injured boy was stretchered and put on board the AWB. AWB landed injured boy to awaiting ambulance at Dover.


41 - 07/08/07 Yacht "Blue Peter"

Service Area: Due East of Ramsgate, 7.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind CALM , Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Blue Peter", with three persons, with engine failure and becalmed off the port.  AWB launched and towed "Blue Peter" in to Ramsgate.


34 - 11/07/07 Catamaran "Sundance"

Launched at 17:55 hrs and returned from service at 21:03 hrs.
Service Area: Near Drill Stone, 15.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNW force 4, Slight Seas, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility.

Whilst AWB was at sea on exercise she was diverted on service at 17:55hrs by HMCG to the yacht "Sundance" with two persons on board. "Sundance" had advised HMCG that she was near the South Falls Head, and had lost all electrical power. HMCG subsequently lost contact with "Sundance" and AWB was diverted to search. AWB located "Sundance" at 19:00hrs, East of the Drill Stone, and took the casualty in tow in to Ramsgate.


31 - 27/06/07 Yacht "Limeshain"

Service Area: ENE of the Harbour, 3.6 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Limeshain", with 3 persons, off Ramsgate. "Limeshain" was making no progress under sail in heavy seas and was unable to start her engine.  AWB towed "Limeshain" in to Ramsgate.


30 - 22/06/07 Barge "Bestevuer"

Launched at 20:18 hrs and returned from service at 02:48 hrs on the 23rd.
Service Area: Fairy West Buoy, 27.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to assist/escort the 60ft dutch barge "Besteveur", with three persons, near the Garden City Wreck Buoy. "Besteveur", although under way, had lost all navigational equipment, including lights. With darkness approaching HMCG considered "Besteveur" needed assistance in navigating the traffic separation scheme. AWB located "Bestevuer" at 21:34 hrs, near the Fairy West buoy and commenced escorting her towards Ramsgate. With progress being very slow, "Bestevuer" making about four knots, it was decided to take the vessel in tow. With the lifeboat towing, better speed was made and "Bestevuer" was towed in to Ramsgate.


29 - 20/06/07 Angling Boat "Excell II"

Launched at 14:28 hrs and returned from service at 17:25 hrs.
Service Area: Near Inter Bank, 17.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force, Seas, Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the local angling boat "Excell II", broken down with nine persons onboard near the Inter Bank buoy. AWB launched and towed "Excell II" in to Ramsgate.


28 - 18/06/07 Motor Yacht "Aretousa"

Diverted from another service at 14:50 hrs and returned to that service at 15:25 hrs.
Service Area: Near Gull Buoy, 4.9 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 6, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB, the AWB being at sea on service - (See Station Service number 26/07), to the motor yacht "Aretousa", with two persons, making water near the Gull Buoy. ILB launched and the AWB diverted from service to this incident. On arrival, AWB found that "Aretousa" was experiencing water ingress only when the engine was running. Having seen all secure, the AWB remained on scene until the ILB arrived. ILB towed "Aretousa" in to Ramsgate. AWB returned to the barge "Balestra" (See Station Service Number 26/07)


26 - 18/06/07 Barge "Balestra"

Launched at 13:53 hrs and returned from service at 16:04 hrs.
Service Area: West of Stone Bay, 3.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 5, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG alerted the LOM to the situation of the Barge "Balestra", with four persons,  at anchor off  Stone Bay changing fuel filters after suffering engine failure. At 13:45 HMCG advised that "Balestra" required assistance, and AWB was launched. AWB took "Balestra" in tow towards Ramsgate. At 14:50 hrs the Cox'n heard of the ILB being launched to the yacht "Aretousa", taking water near the Gull Buoy and decided that AWB attendance was needed to that casualty, the AWB being closer and having a better salvage pump than the ILB. AWB secured one of the lifeboat's anchors to the tow line and left the barge "Balestra" safely at anchor. AWB proceeded to "Aretousa" (See Station Service Number 28/07), and returned to "Balestra" at 15:25 hrs, resuming her tow in to Ramsgate Harbour.


24 - 03/06/07 Yacht "Vanna"

Launched at 22:35 hrs and returned from service at 00:12 hrs.
Service Area: Stone Bay, 2.3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N'LY force 2, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

Following a call from a MoP, HMCG advised that the yacht "Vanna", with four persons, was aground at Stone Bay. Yacht was high and dry and HMCG requested lifeboat to stand by when she re floated. Cox'n visited scene to asses situation, and launches of both boats were planned for when the tide rose. On the rising tide, ILB approached the casualty and  connected a tow tine. Two lifeboat crew were put aboard the yacht to assist in raising her anchor. As the yacht floated, the tow was transferred to the AWB and the anchor was raised. After inspections for damage (none found) "Vanna" was towed in to Ramsgate.

21 - 01/06/07 Motor Sailer "Ambassador"

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the motor sailer "Ambassador", with four persons, which had suffered engine failure north of North Foreland after leaving leaving Ramsgate. AWB towed "Ambassador" back in to Ramsgate.


20 - 30/05/07 Motor Sailor "Ambassador"

The motor sailer "Ambassador", with four persons, requested assistance to enter the port after suffering engine failure bear the East Brake. AWB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. AWB took "Ambassador" in tow in to Ramsgate.


18 - 25/05/07 Yacht "Nis Randers"

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Nis Randers", East of Ramsgate, becalmed with engine failure and four persons on board. AWB Towed "Nis Randers" in to Ramsgate.


14 - 18/05/07 Yacht "Whisper"

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Whisper", disabled by steering gear failure, with four persons on board, east of Sandettie. AWB took "Whisper" in tow in to Ramsgate.


13 - 15/05/07 Motor Cruiser "Little Buds"

Service Area: Near Winterstoke, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SSW force 6-7, Rough Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The motor Cruiser "Little Buds", with two persons, called the port control to advise that she was making for Ramsgate with limited manoeuvrability due to one engine having failed. Closer to the port "Little Buds" requested assistance when her other engine failed and she was being driven towards Winterstoke. AWB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. The local fishing vessel "Audacious", in the vicinity put a line on board "Little Buds" and held her off the rocks until the AWB arrived and took over the tow. AWB towed "Little Buds" in to Ramsgate.


10 - 06/05/07 Motor Yacht "Kelala"

Service Area: North Quern Buoy, 0.8 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 5, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG advised the port control that the Motor Yacht "Kelala", with two persons, was approaching the port on one engine only. Closer to the port "Kelala" lost her steering and her second engine and requested assistance. AWB launched and towed "Kelala" in to Ramsgate.


09 - 26/04/07 Beam Trawler "Angus Rose"

Launched at 15:53 hrs and returned from service at 17:05 hrs.
Service Area: Near Brake Buoy, 4.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 6, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the beam trawler "Angus Rose", disabled with engine and electrical failure near the Brake Buoy. AWB towed "Angus Rose" in to number one berth at the ferry terminal, as the casualty could not recover her beams.

08 - 17/04/07 Fishing Vessel "Anna Louise"

Launched at 07:35 hrs and returned from service at 08:10 hrs.
Service Area: Near Elbow Bouy, 5.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind N force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Poor Visibility.

The local fishing vessel "Anna Louise", with two persons, called the port control requesting assistance after suffering engine failure near the Elbow Buoy. HMCG were advised and AWB launched. AWB towed "Anna Louise" in to Ramsgate.


05 - 26/03/07 Motor Boat "Belindra"

Launched at 12:59 hrs and returned from service at 13:38 hrs.
Service Area: Off Stone Bay, 2.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 3, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

M B "Belindra" with 3 persons called the Ramsgate Port Control reporting engine problems from contaminated fuel and requesting assistance. The vessel gave a position north of Margate and after contacting Dover MRCC, HMCG initiated a launch of Margate Lifeboat. "Belindra" then gave another position, off North Foreland. Margate lifeboat was stood down and HMCG requested launch of the Ramsgate AWB, whilst the fisheries vessel "Ken Green" stood by. AWB towed "Belindra" in to Ramsgate.


04 - 03/03/07 Fishing Vessel "Royal Sovereign"

Launched at 14:40 hrs and returned from service at 16:00 hrs.
Service Area: 50  45.5N  01 16.5E, 35.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Moderate Seas, Nil Swell, Fair Visibility.

Whilst on passage to Ramsgate the relief lifeboat 1213 "Henry Heys Duckworth"was diverted from passage by HMCG to assist the fishing vessel "Royal Sovereign" which was taking on water. Newhaven Lifeboat was also launching. Boat was then south of Bexhill and revered course towards the casualty, which was just east of Beachy Head. On arrival on scene the Newhaven Lifeboat was with the casualty and getting the situation under control, taking the casualty under tow to Eastbourne. The relief boat escorted the tow back to Eastbourne in case a second salvage might be required, and was released to resume passage when the Newhaven Lifeboat and casualty were locked in to Eastbourne Harbour.


01 - 05/01/07 Assistance of ill person on board Fishing Catamaran "Beachy Head"

Launched at 09:45 hrs and returned from service at 09:59 hrs.
Service Area: 50 45N 01 18E.
Weather: Wind SW force 5, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

Whilst on Passage to Poole with Relief Boat, the lifeboat was diverted to the assistance of the fishing Catamaran " Beachy Head", which had called for assistance for a crew member suffering chest pains. Eastbourne lifeboat had been launched and approached the casualty at the same time as the relief boat. Eastbourne lifeboat took on the incident whilst 12-13 was released to continue on passage.
