01 - 15/01/05 Motor Yacht "LAVICCA"

14-02 “Esme Anderson” ON 1197

Launched at 13:12 hrs and returned from service at 13:41 hrs.
Service Area: South Brake, 3.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind S force 4-5, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

The motor boat "Lavicca", with two persons, called the port control requesting assistance after experiencing engine failure in the vicinity of the South Brake. AWB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised, and the AWB towed "Lavicca" in to Ramsgate.
02 - 17/01/05 Yacht "TOANA"

Launched at 19:27 hrs and returned from service at 20:44 hrs.
Service Area: Near Elbow Buoy, 6.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Rough Seas, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Toana", with four persons on board, and adrift following an engine failure. On arrival on scene the AWB found that "Toana" had restarted her engine but in view of the uncertainty of the repair the vessel accepted a tow in to Ramsgate.


03 - 26/02/05 Yacht "KRITER V"

Launched at 21:35 hrs and returned from service at 22:24 hrs.
Service Area: SE of Ramsgate, 2.1 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNE force 9, Very Rough Seas, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility.

The Yacht "Kriter V", with nine persons, called the port control having had her mainsail torn in the strong winds, and experiencing trouble starting her engine. With continuing engine problems, "Kriter V" requested assistance and an AWB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. AWB towed "Kriter V" in to Ramsgate.


04 - 20/03/05 Motor Yacht "GYSELLE"

Launched at 16:41 hrs and returned from service at 19:45 hrs.
Service Area: Sandettie West, 19.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB following receipt of a "Mayday" call from the motor yacht "Gyselle". "Gyselle", with four persons on board had broken down near the Sandettie. AWB towed "Gyselle" in to Ramsgate Harbour.


05 - 26/03/05 Yacht "TRINGA TOO"

Launched at 16:52 hrs and returned from service at 17:25 hrs.
Service Area: Broadstairs/Dumpton Gap, 1.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fog.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB after a request from assistance from the yacht "Tringa Too", aground at Broadstairs with four persons on board. AWB checked "Tringa Too" secure and in no danger and decided to return to attend when yacht floats on the tide.


06 - 26/03/05 Yacht "VOLAVONT"

Launched at 19:37 hrs and returned from service at 20:05 hrs.
Service Area: SE of Port, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fog.

The yacht "Volavont", with 2 persons, called the port control requesting assistance, being unsure of his position in fog. "Volavont" was able to give a Lat & Long and an AWB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. AWB escorted "Volavont" in to Ramsgate.


09 - 26/03/05 Yacht "TRINGA TOO"

Launched at 20:06 hrs and returned from service at 20:59 hrs.
Service Area: Broadstairs/Dumpton, 1.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fog.

Immediately on return from service to "Volavont" (see service 06/05 above), AWB re-launched to assist with yacht "Tringa Too" (see service 07/05 ILB) then being towed to Ramsgate by the ILB. AWB took over the tow, whilst ILB proceeded to "Lady P" (see service 08/05 ILB).


10 - 26/03/05 Catamaran "LADY P"

Launched at 21:06 hrs and returned from service at 21:14 hrs.
Service Area: Winterstoke, 0.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fog.

Upon return from service to "Tringa Too" (see service 09/05 above) AWB returned to sea on service to assist ILB, then escorting catamaran "Lady P" back in to Ramsgate. AWB returned to harbour escorting "Lady P" and ILB.


12 - 28/03/05 Yacht "Skylark"

Service Area: North of the Brake, 2.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Poor Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Skylark", with one person, broken down SE of Ramsgate and with insufficient wind to sail. AWB towed "Skylark" to Ramsgate.


14 - 28/03/05 Missing Jet Skier

Service Area: Pegwell Bay Area, 1.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind Calm, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Poor Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB and then (at 1947) the AWB to commence a search for a Jetskier whose car and trailer were still at the Western Undercliff and who had not been seen for a considerable time. Shortly after launch, HMCG located the man walking along the foreshore and the lifeboats returned to station.

48 - 11/07/05 Catamaran "Kikuyu"

Launched at 15:43 hrs and returned from service at 17:46 hrs.
Service Area: 1 mile NE of East Goodwin Buoy, 8.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 8, Rough Seas, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the Catamaran "Kikuyu", on passage to Ramsgate. "Kikuyu" had failure of her boom and there was some concern that one of her hulls may have started to break up, which could result in total rigging collapse. "Kikuyu" had settled on the best course to ease stress and in consultation with the AWB Cox'n it was decided that she would proceed to Dover, a course to Ramsgate being potentially hazardous. AWB escorted "Kikuyu" to near the SE Goodwin, where Dover AWB took over the escort in to Dover.

49 - 11/07/05 Yacht "Kenavo"

Launched at 16:08 hrs and returned from service at 16:10 hrs.
Service Area: Turning Circle, 0.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind force , Seas, Swell, Visibility.

The yacht "Kenavo" with two persons called Ramsgate Marina saying that she was in the harbour with a fouled propeller and unable to get out of the way of an incoming ferry. Harbour Staff alerted Port Control and an ILB launch was initiated , HMCG being advised. The workboat "Bumble" heard the VHF traffic and proceeded to the assistance of "Kenavo", getting a line on board her. As "Bumble" towed "Kenavo" in to the Royal Harbour the ILB arrived to escort.

50 - 12/07/05 Motor Yacht "Lady Gina"

Service Area: In Royal Harbour, 0.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NE force 3, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

The Motor Yacht "Lady Gina" was alongside the outside of the East Marina southern breakwater when she suffered a sudden ingress of water. "Lady Gina" called the port control requesting assistance as her pump could not cope. AWB launch was initiated, HMCG being advised. AWB put her salvage pump on to "Lady Gina" , controlling the water ingress whilst she towed "Lady Gina" to the Harbour Authority's boat hoist for lifting out.

53 - 20/07/05 Motor Yacht "Plus One"

Launched at 12:48 hrs and returned from service at 13:05 hrs.
Service Area: South of Port, 0.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NW force 4-5, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Very Good Visibility.

The motor yacht "Plus One", with four persons called the port control requesting assistance after experiencing a fouled propeller just south of the port. AWB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. AWB towed "Plus One" in to Ramsgate.

55 - 23/07/05 Motor Yacht "Glevan"

Launched at 07:05 hrs and returned from service at 08:17 hrs.
Service Area: ENE of the East Goodwin, 8.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 1-2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB after a request for assistance from the Motor Yacht "Glevan", with five persons, taking water ENE of the North East Goodwin. The passing yacht "Paula" stood by until the arrival of the AWB. On scene, AWB took all persons off "Glevan" and put two crew on board with pumps to stem the inflow. However, the water ingress was too great and the lifeboat crew were taken off the casualty as she listed and started to sink. AWB returned to Ramsgate with survivors.

56 - 24/07/05 Yacht "Stephanie II"

Service Area: Goodwin Knoll, 4.3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 2-3, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

The yacht "Stephanie II", with three persons called the port control requesting assistance after having engine failure and insufficient wind to counter the current and clear the Goodwin Knoll. AWB launch was initiated and HMCG advised. AWB took "Stephanie II" in tow in to Ramsgate.

58 - 30/07/05 Fishing Vessel "Holladays"

Service Area: Near Elbow Buoy, 7.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 6, Moderate Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB following a request for assistance from the Ramsgate fishing vessel "Holladays", with three persons, broken down near the Elbow Buoy. AWB towed "Holladays" in to Ramsgate.

59 - 30/07/05 Sloop "Trinath"

Launched at 18:08 hrs and returned from service at 20:59 hrs.
Service Area: Approx 1.75 miles N of the Drill Stone, 14.3 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 7, Moderate Seas, Moderate Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to meet and take over towage of the sloop "Trinath", with four persons on board. "Trinath" had suffered engine failure. Whilst sailing towards Ramsgate weather had worsened, and some crew began to suffer from seasickness. With adverse winds and unfavorable current the situation was deteriorating with potentially serious consequences. Walton lifeboat had self-launched to the casualty and took her in tow when HMCG decided to ask Ramsgate to take over. AWB towed "Trinath" in to Ramsgate.

60 - 13/08/05 Yacht "Janita"

Service Area: NE of the Elbow, 7.2 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 4, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Good Visibility.

The yacht "Janita", with three persons, called the port control requesting assistance after experiencing engine failure whilst near the Elbow Buoy. HMCG was consulted and an AWB launch initiated. AWB towed "Janita" in to Ramsgate.

62 - 15/08/05 Yacht "Pott 40"

Launched at 13:45 hrs and returned from service at 14:10 hrs.
Service Area: East Brake, 2.7 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNW force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of AWB to attend the Yacht "Pott40", with six persons, which had put out a PAN message for medical assistance after a crew member fell ill. The "Pott40" advised that the crew member was unconscious, not breathing and had stomach problems. ILB launched to render first aid whilst AWB remained alongside awaiting the arrival of para-medics who had been requested by the Port Control via a 999 call. ILB crew member went aboard "Pott40" and established that the person was breathing OK, and history indicated that he had choked on his own vomit when severely seasick. Man was made comfortable until the arrival of the para-medics on board the AWB at 13:51 hrs.

Two medics went on board the "Pott40" and dealt with the man whilst the AWB escorted the casualty in to Ramsgate Harbour, where the man was landed to ambulance.

63 - 20/08/05 Catamaran "Dream Come True"

Launched at 05:01 hrs and returned from service at 06:15 hrs.
Service Area: Eastern Marina, 0.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NW force 2, Calm Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

A local boatman advised the port control that the catamaran “Dream Come True”, laying on the Eastern Marina Breakwater, was listing heavily to port. After consultation it was decided to launch the AWB to establish whether there was anyone on board the craft, and if anything could be done to avoid her capsize in the harbour.

65 - 05/09/05 The Fishing Vessel"Our Kate"

Service Area: Off Winterstoke, 0.9 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind NNW force 1, Slight Seas, Low Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the local fishing vessel "Our Kate", with two persons, off Winterstoke with a fouled propeller. AWB towed "Our Kate" in to Ramsgate.

66 - 05/09/05 Recovery of a Body

Service Area: 10 miles NE of Port, 10.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind SW force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Fair Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to recover a body, sighted by the fishing vessel "Our Kate". Two crew entered the water and collected the body into a stretcher. The badly decomposed body was landed to police & coroner at Ramsgate.

68 - 15/09/05 Yacht "Xandra"

HMCG requested launch of the AWB to the yacht "Xandra", broken down off the port. AWB towed "Xandra" in to Ramsgate

74 - 20/11/05 Assistance to "E O D"

Launched at 09:03 hrs and returned from service at 11:07 hrs.
Service Area: 3 miles NNE of North Foreland, 6.5 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

P.m of the 19th November, the local fishing vessel "Phoenix" reported raising a suspicious object in her gear. The object was lowered to the bottom and buoyed off pending advice from EOD. HMCG requested RNLI assistance in the operation. Launch was planned for the following morning in optimum tide conditions. AWB took the EOD team and their inflatable boat out to the scene.

AWB stood by on scene whilst EOD team examined the object, which was declared harmless. AWB returned EOD team and boat to Ramsgate Harbour.

76 - 20/11/05 Report of Red Flares

Service Area: Pegwell Bay, 2.0 miles from Station.
Weather: Wind W force 2, Slight Seas, Nil Swell, Good Visibility.

HMCG requested launch of the ILB following a telephoned report of a red flare in the Sandwich/Pegwell Bay area. Search commenced and AWB launched to search further off shore and to co-ordinate ILB operations, on advice from the RNLI launching authority. Search was eventually called off with nothing found and cause was logged as false alarm with malicious intent.
