Service Reports 2015
Service Call 1
18th February @ 21:10 AWB launched to a ship with an ill person on board. Two of our crew boarded the ship, and assisted the vessel's crew with casualty care whilst waiting for the helicopter to arrive. Once it arrived the casualty was airlifted and taken to hospital.
Service Call 2
6th March @ 21:19 ILB launched to a person threatening to jump into the harbour. The person was stopped from jumping by the police and taken away for their safety.
Service Call 3
11th March @ 17:16 AWB launched to the assistance of a small angling boat with 3 persons on board 5 miles off Ramsgate. On arrival on scene the crew found the casualty vessel being towed towards Ramsgate by a local RIB. AWB took over the tow and brought the casualty into harbour.
Service Call 4
18th March @ 10:43 ILB launched to a small boat aground on Shell Ness with only 2ft of water around. ILB attached a tow line to the RIB and pulled it into deeper water, where it was then able to continue on.

2nd April @ 15:30 ILB launched to a small cabin cruiser with engine failure, in Pegwell Bay. ILB towed casualty into Harbour.
Service Call 6 &7
8th April @ 13:13 both AWB & ILB launched to the assistance of a barge aground in the river Stour entrance with 2 persons on board. Both boat approached the casualty with care as there was less than 1 metre of water below the AWB. On scene the ILB took the AWB's tow rope to the casualty by wading in the water and climbed aboard to assist with attaching the tow rope. Once the tow was attached the AWB then proceeded to tow the casualty into deeper water and then towed it into Ramsgate harbour as it had steering trouble.

Service Call 8
12th April @ 12:30 ILB launched to the assistance of a 10m yacht with no steering, 1.5 miles off Ramsgate, with 6 people on board. ILB attached a tow line and used the on board sea anchor as a drogue to help keep the yacht straight whilst under tow. Yacht brought safely into harbour and put on its mooring.

Service Call 9
2nd May @ 10:44 ILB launched to search for a missing person between Viking Bay and Pegwell Bay. After a full search with nothing found, the Coastguard released the ILB to return to station.
Service Call 10
2nd May @ 20:54 AWB launched to a 44ft yacht with a jammed mainsail by the East Break, with 3 persons onboard. AWB towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.
Service Call 11
10th May @ 10:05 ILB launched to the assistance of a French Yacht aground in Pegwell Bay. ILB managed to get close enough to attach a tow line to the casualty and tow into deeper water. The skipper of the yacht checked that everything was ok with the yacht and decided to carry on towards Dover. ILB escorted the yacht until it was clear of hazards and then returned to station.

15th May @ 07:51 ILB launched to the assistance of a fishing boat with a fouled propeller. By the time the ILB arrived on scene the fishing vessels crew had managed to clear the prop and were able to make their own way into harbour with the ILB in escort.
Service Call 13
17th May @ 16:58 ILB launched to the assistance of a Jet Skier with a broken throttle cable. ILB took the Jet Skier aboard and towed his jet ski to Jet Ski World where he was able to recover it ashore.

17th May @ 20:00 AWB launched to the assistance of a 35ft yacht with an overheating engine in the turning circle. AWB towed the casualty into harbour.
Service Call 15
24th May @ 19:48 ILB launched to a yacht with engine failure. ILB towed casualty into harbour.
Service Call 16
1st June @ 13:03 AWB launched to the assistance of a yacht with intermittently running engine at the end of the approach channel. On arrival on scene the yacht's engine was running and was able to make it's own way into harbour, with the AWB escorting.
Service Call 17
6th June @ 09:35 AWB launched to a report of an empty dinghy, drifting near the Thanet Wind Farm. After the AWB found the dinghy the area was thoroughly searched for possible missing persons. AWB was stood down after the Coastguard received a report from a yacht which had gone into Dover, which had lost their dinghy, which matched the description of the one found. AWB took the dinghy aboard and returned to harbour.

Service Call 18
6th June @ 13:01 AWB launched to take over a difficult tow from Walmer Lifeboat, which was a yacht with rudder problems. AWB towed the yacht into Ramsgate harbour, escorted by Walmer Lifeboat.

Service Call 19
6th June @ 17:04 ILB launched to a yacht aground in the entrance to the River Stour. The ILB was unable to tow the casualty as it was hard aground, so returned to station, to return early morning when the tide is high enough for the ILB to tow the yacht into deeper water.
Service Call 20
7th June @ 01:30 ILB launched to the yacht from the previous call. On arrival on scene the yacht had refloated, but as it had engine problems, the ILB towed it to Sandwich Quay. ILB returned to station.
Service Call 21
7th June @ 17:22 ILB launched to a 39ft motor cruiser aground at the entrance to the River Stour. The casualty was hard aground, so the ILB took four children, a lady and a greyhound dog off and took them to the Lifeboat station where they were cared for whilst they awaited collection to be taken home. The skipper/owner stayed aboard. The ILB will yet again return in the early hours to assist the vessel when it starts to refloat.

8th June @ 02:00 ILB returned to vessel in service call 21 once the tide had made enough to refloat. ILB towed vessel into deeper water and as it's engine was working escorted it for a while. Vessels engine started to overheat, so ILB towed it into Ramsgate harbour.

8th June @ 10:07 AWB launched to the assistance of a local fishing vessel with gearbox problems. AWB towed casualty into Ramsgate harbour and took the vessel to its berth.
Service Call 24
13th June @ 09:37 ILB launched at the request of Dover Coastguard to the assistance of a person cut off by the tide at the 39 steps, sighted by a member of the public. ILB arrived on scene and carried out an extensive search of the area, with the assistance of the local mobile Coastguard unit ashore. The only possible sighting, matching the description, was of a fisherman who was in no danger at all. Dover Coastguard released the ILB after it was decided that it was a false alarm with good intent.

14th June @ 16:09 AWB launched to the assistance of an 8 m motor cruiser with engine failure, six miles East of Ramsgate, with four people on board. AWB towed casualty into harbour.
Service Call 26
29th June @ 13:19 ILB launched to the assistance of a small speed boat with engine failure, East of Sandwich Golf course with 4 persons on board. ILB took casualty under tow and brought it into Ramsgate Harbour.
Service Call 27
2nd July @ 14:54 ILB launched to a yacht with 2 persons on board with engine failure, unable to sail due to lack of wind, near the Gull Buoy. ILB towed casualty into harbour.

Service Call 28
11th July @ 22:24 ILB launched to a report of two persons in an inflatable dinghy attempting to row from Sandwich Toll Bridge to Grove Ferry. One of the persons reported by mobile phone that they were tired and were getting out of the dinghy ashore. ILB carried out a search but were stood down when the persons were reported safe at home. Whilst leaving the river entrance the ILB was tasked again by the Coastguard to search Pegwell Bay after a report of red flares. After an extensive search the ILB was stood down when nothing was found. It is thought that it was in fact Chinese lanterns. False alarm with good intent.

18th July @ 18:47 ILB launched to the assistance of a yacht with engine failure, 5 persons on board, NE of the Broadstairs Knoll. ILB arrived on scene and towed the vessel into Ramsgate Harbour.
Service Call 30
23rd July @ 19:14 ILB launched to the assistance of a 34ft yacht with engine failure at No. 4 Buoy with 3 persons on board. ILB towed casualty into harbour.
Service Call 31
24th July @ 21:39 AWB Tasked to take over the tow from Walton Lifeboat, however once on scene the weather and sea conditions were considered too dangerous to transfer the tow, especially as the crew on board the casualty vessel were unable to assist with releasing Waltons tow and attaching our tow. The decision was taken to continue with Walton towing the casualty, with our boat escorting them in.

1st August @ 15:11 ILB launched to the assistance to a local 8m angling boat with engine failure near the Ramsgate Approach Buoy with 3 persons on board. ILB towed into Ramsgate harbour.

6th August @ 21:52 AWB launched to the assistance of a small yacht aground close to the harbour Northern breakwater. AWB passed a line to the yacht and slowly managed to pull it into deeper water, where it was able to make its own way into the harbour.

8th August @ 02:21 AWB launched to the assistance of a 10m yacht aground on the Northern part of the Goodwin Sands. The AWB crew sent up a white parachute flare to light up the area around the yacht and passed over their tow rope, enabling them to pull the yacht clear of the sands. The yacht was then able to make its own way into Ramsgate, escorted by the AWB.

13th August @ 19:39 AWB launched to a 42ft yacht with engine failure 5 miles East of Ramsgate Harbour. AWB crew attached a tow rope and brought the casualty into the harbour.

21st August @ 12:38 ILB launched to the assistance of a small cabin cruiser with engine failure 2 miles off Ramsgate, in Pegwell Bay. ILB attached a line and towed it into Ramsgate Harbour.
Service Call 37
22nd August @ 11:38 AWB launched to a 40ft yacht with 3 persons on board, with a fouled propeller, 10 miles off Ramsgate, South East of the Goodwin sands. AWB passed a tow line and towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour.
Service Call 38
22nd August @ 17:04 ILB launched to two children missing at Viking Bay, Broadstairs. As ILB was making it's way, a further report came in, confirming that the children had been found and were safe. ILB then returned to station.
Service Call 39
24th August @ 01:32 AWB launched to the assistance of a local boat with smoke in the engine room, causing them to shut the engines down. AWB arrived on scene, passed a line and towed it back to Ramsgate.
Service Call 40
2nd September @ 14:33 ILB launched to the assistance of an inflatable dinghy off Broadstairs. When ILB arrived on scene all that they were able to find was a large black fish box. The Coastguard confirmed that this was the object sighted by the member of public, so ILB returned to station. False alarm with good intent.
Service Call 41
14th September @ 16:12 AWB launched to the assistance of a 40ft yacht with 2 persons on board, struggling to make way in rough seas 7 miles off Ramsgate. AWB arrived on scene, passed a tow and towed the casualty into Ramsgate Harbour. Wind force 9.
Service Call 42
26th September @ 16:25 AWB launched to capsized catamaran, spotted by a ship which was standing by, 27 miles NE of Ramsgate. A thorough search of the area was carried out by Ramsgate AWB, Margate AWB and Coastguard Helicopter. The catamaran was thoroughly searched for any identification and anything to try and identify where it had come from and how many persons had been onboard. Once the area had been thoroughly search and both lifeboats and helicopter had been stood down by the Coastguard, Margate AWB lifted the catamaran on to their foredeck and proceeded to Ramsgate Harbour with Our AWB. Once in harbour the catamaran was lifted off Margate AWB and landed ashore.

27th September @ 17:46 ILB launched to a yacht aground in Pegwell Bay. ILB was unable to tow the yacht off the shallows, but were able to get 2 people off and bring them to the Lifeboat Station, leaving the remaining yachts crew aboard the yacht to await the tide coming in. ILB to return later on when the yacht starts floating again.
Service Call 44
27th September @ 20:35 ILB returned to the yacht from service Call 43 once it started floating. The yacht was checked for any damage and was escorted into Ramsgate Harbour.
Service Call 45
28th October @ 12:07 AWB launched to the assistance of a river boat 17 miles East of Ramsgate with fuel problems. AWB took the casualty under tow, whilst the crew attended to the fuel problem, Once clear of the shipping lane, with engine running, the casualty requested that the tow be released, but wanted the AWB to escort them into Ramsgate.
Service Call 46
11th November @ 20:01 AWB launched to a yacht with 12 persons on board, 11 miles off Ramsgate, East of the Thanet Offshore Windfarm, taking in water. Once on scene, the casualty vessel had made a temporary repair and switched on its bilge pumps, which had the situation under control. It was requested that the AWB remained with the vessel until it arrived safely in Ramsgate.

18th November @ 15:24 AWB launched to the assistance of a local fishing vessel with an intermittent engine problem at the back of the harbour pier. When arriving on scene the fishing vessel was making it's own way, so the AWB escorted it into the harbour in case the engine failed again, whilst entering the harbour. Wind SW force 9 (50mph)
Service Call 48
7th December @ 17:57 ILB launched to investigate a report of a red flare, sighted in the Pegwell Bay area. ILB carried out an extensive search, utilising white parachute flares, to light the area up. At 19:47 nothing untoward was found therefore the search was called off and ILB returned to station.
Service Call 49
13th December @ 20:51 AWB launched to two kayaks in difficulty in Pegwell Bay/River Stour entrance. The AWB was unable to get all the way to the kayaks, so launched their XP boat, which was able to reach them and tow them to the AWB. They were then brought on board the AWB to warm up, and taken to Ramsgate Lifeboat Station. The Coastguard also launched Walmer ILB to assist if necessary.

Service Call 50
28th December @ 09:42 AWB launched to the assistance of a fishing vessel with water ingress whilst the engine is running, due to a damaged exhaust hose. The casualties own automatic bilge pump was able to keep the water level at a safe level, but only with the engine running at low RPM. AWB arrived on scene and took the vessel under tow, towing it into Ramsgate Harbour.
